ThetaHealing™ Technique

We here at the ThetaHealing Institute of Knowledge believe Trisha to be unstable, both mentally and physically. We deny her statements emphatically, except with the exception of three emails she posted of our earlier correspondences between our company and her. These correspondences were incomplete, since she did not post all the messages that went back and forth between us.

My husband Guy is very protective. When Trisha told us that she was coming to the institute to teach nine new unauthorized classes in ThetaHealing, with visions of grandeur in the hope of getting on Oprah Winfrey, he reacted. He had already received many complaints pertaining to her prior to this time. Had she taken more ThetaHealing classes she may have understood the technique that has become an art.

In her anger of these classes that were rejected, Trisha then used her old site that was pro-ThetaHealing and changed it to a website focused on hatred. On the old site, she claimed that ThetaHealing had healed her.

We did file a trademark lawsuit against her based on the fact that she is misusing our name to attract people to her website, but we have since temporarily dropped it based on Trisha’s health. Our attorney has informed us that she has breast cancer and a stroke. We believe that she needs healing energy sent to her. Please send her unconditional love. I cannot change the fact that my husbands email exchange with Trisha hurt her feelings, but I am also glad that Guy is protective and I value his love for me and the work. I wish Trisha luck on her healing journey.

To all ThetaHealing teachers:
I know Trisha’s website hurt your feelings and I appreciate your love and support in this matter, but please have compassion, because compassion is what we are about. Theta is still growing in leaps and bounds. People that have any spiritual commonsense can tell that her website is a lie. Thousands of people use ThetaHealing every day. Your students are intelligent beings of light and know the difference between truth and lies.

THE TRUTH ABOUT “THE TRUTH ABOUT THETA HEALING™”

Some of you reading our website may have seen or heard about claims made by some disgruntled former Theta Healers® that Theta Healing™ is dangerous or harmful in some way. There is a small number of former students of ours who have decided to publicize their “new and improved” versions of Theta Healing by making more and more outlandish claims about the harm allegedly done by Theta Healing. Anyone is free to have any opinion they want about Theta Healing, or to say what they want, but when they start making outrageous, unsubstantiated and unverifiable claims, we stand ready to put the facts before you.

The allegation has been made by a Trisha Howell of California, on her website www.thetahealingtechnique.com, that Theta Healing training “downloads” a parasitic entity which feeds on the student and will try to do harm if the student leaves Theta. This entity supposedly cannot be detected by anyone trained in Theta, but masquerades as Creator, and really does provide the energy to do real healings, This is actually one of the least outlandish of her allegations – she also claims that Vianna and Guy have remotely given her cancer.

Anyway, anyone tempted to believe Ms. Howell’s claim should at least consider that she offers no proof of this beyond her own word. And you should consider whether she might have a motivation to make up a “discovery” such as that Creator is actually a parasitic entity. We do not think it is unfair to suggest that her motivation might lie in her simultaneous “discovery” that the only way to remove the parasitic entity is through her husband Dean’s psychic treatments, available for $190.00 each through his website, a link to which she thoughtfully provides.

Or maybe her motivation to tear down Theta Healing lies in her desire to build up “Lifonics,” as she now calls her healing modality.

It is true, as she claims, that we have filed a lawsuit against her; not for defamation, as she writes in her website, but for trademark infringement and breach of contract. It is necessary to understand the role that trademarks play in this. Ever since Vianna showed the world what she has learned about this healing method, and gave it a name, the world has considered “Theta Healing” to mean the energy healing method developed and taught by Vianna. But, some people have tried to take that name and make it something else. That something else may be good, or it may be bad – Vianna does not, and in most cases cannot, know. She can only vouch what has been revealed to her, and not for methods and concepts that have been put forward by others. People are free to teach and practice what they want, but we insist that Vianna is also free not to have her name associated with a practice she cannot vouch for. So, as a general rule, she has declined to permit these practices to be called “Theta Healing.”

It is so that she can control what is presented as “Theta Healing” that Vianna has for years claimed that as her trademark. She and her students sign a contract which gives them written permission – a license – to use our trademarks, but the contract requires students to respect the trademark by practicing ethically. Further, licensed teachers are required to teach precisely what is taught by Vianna, without adding to or subtracting from her material, and without mixing it with concepts from other energy healing or medical modalities. This ensures that what is presented to the public as Theta Healing is the energy healing modality as taught by Vianna. Teachers who break these contractual requirements are likely to get their licenses revoked. And if they then continue to call what they do Theta Healing, they are infringing on our trademarks.

This is what led to our lawsuit against Trisha Howell. The email exchange Ms. Howell has made public tells part of the story. It began in 2007. Ms. Howell, who is an aspiring actress and writer, took two teacher’s courses from Vianna at our Idaho Falls location. Over the next few months, she claims to have written nine new courses and a book, which she told us would revolutionize Theta Healing. She also told us she’d had a vision of appearing on television as a kind of spokeswoman for Theta Healing. She admitted that she had already taught the classes to some of her Theta Healing students. She wanted Vianna’s approval to teach her new courses, and offered to split the profits.

We declined. It clearly violated the contract to teach these new methods to students who thought they were taking Theta Healing classes. We have no idea whether Trisha’s methods are good, bad or indifferent, and therein lies the problem. We do not want to gamble Vianna’s reputation and the reputation of Theta Healing on practices we can’t vouch for, no matter how big a share of the profits she offers us. It also would have been unfair to the other teachers of Theta Healing to give such a special advantage only to Trisha.

And we told her this, in no uncertain terms. There is no nice way to tell someone she has violated the most critical terms of a contract, and is in danger of having her contract terminated. We asked her to remove the offending classes from her Theta Healing website, and gave her over a month to review her contracts. She tried to argue they were unenforceable, but in the end, when it was clear we were not going to let her call these new classes Theta Healing, Trisha had a sudden revelation:

She discovered that this “parasitic entity” was “downloaded” into students during Theta Healing classes. And she simultaneously unveiled her old Theta Healing classes under their new name of “Lifonics.”

We have no problem with Trisha over her teaching her own classes under her own name. She is free to do her own thing, as long as she doesn’t do it with our trademark or copy our materials. We of course rescinded her license to use our trademarks, but she refused to stop. Her principal website continues to be thetahealingtechnique.com. Her use of our trademark in her domain name causes confusion among people seeking information about Theta Healing, and she uses that confusion to harm our reputation and direct readers to her husband’s website and to her own Lifonics site. This is not a freedom of speech issue; this is a form of trademark infringement. We are trying to stop her from using our trademarks to attract people who are looking for us. She can say whatever she wants about us or about Theta Healing, but she cannot use our trademarks unfairly to attract an audience.

It is not true, as Trisha alleges on her website, that we have sued “many others.” We have filed exactly one other lawsuit. That is against a woman who sued Vianna’s grown son over a business venture they went into together. She won a judgment against him, and tried to make Vianna pay it, though Vianna had nothing to do with it. This woman threatened to harm Vianna’s reputation if she didn’t pay it. Vianna viewed this as being tantamount to extortion, and refused to give in. When the woman did as she had threatened, and sent a defamatory email to hundreds of Theta Healers around the world, we sued.

We do not have time to respond to every accusation Trisha Howell raises on her website. If you have seen them, we think you will agree that they amount to little more than anonymous accusations and vague innuendo. In the end, they amount to little of substance. She has forgotten that you cannot build your own house by tearing down your neighbor’s.

We hope that the visitors to our website, and our healers and teachers, will understand the importance of protecting our reputation. We cannot prevent people from disagreeing with us, of course, but we must take action when people spread falsehoods about Theta Healing for the sake of their own publicity.

We know that, for some of you, these allegations may be a concern. We hope that this information has helped you understand what is happening. We invite you to call or email us and ask any questions you may have. We are confident that when you know the facts, your concerns will dissolve.

Love and Light,
